I downloaded and installed iTunes 8 and everything was fine until I switched iTunes Libraries using MultiTunes. The first switch went smoothly, but after attempting to switch back an unknown error (13026) occurred. Now I can't open iTunes without this error occurring. Any idea?
I get the same error on Windows XP. I wrote my own program that switches libraries OUTSIDE of iTunes. It worked fine until I restarted my computer to get it to recognize my iPod.
I don't think it's a problem with MultiTunes.
I uninstalled iTunes 8 and put 7.7.1 back on, but I noticed there were more files for the iTunes library - maybe if you delete those before switching or delete them before opening iTunes 8, it will work?
I'm getting this same error, and it is mainly due to the fact that the programmers over at Apple didn't take into account that I might be running iTunes from multiple machines in my house hitting the same share for my iTunes folder/AppData.
Are you kidding me Apple? That's just plain sloppy programming.
Well this happened 2 me too
i got so pist and thought i needed 2 download it again
but no! dont...
what i did was ...
there should be a folder which says Itunes and has all these
things and files about itunes .. well i deleted that FOLDER

So, what I'm guessing the problem is, is that you the Genius library file is linked to the main library file, and if you try to change out library files, it gives this error.
I'll try installing iTunes 8 a little bit later and playing around with it. I'll probably end up modifying my program to copy both the Genius library file and the iTunes "extras" library file - none of which I will probably use, but it'll copy nonetheless to prevent this error.
It's the programmers of our utilitites who will have to do a bit more of programming to move the new files with the three old ones! (We'll get then five files moved).
So we'll have to wait for upgrades of our utilities…
In the meantime we'll have to do it manually if we want to change of Library! Or maybe NOT activate Genius in the secondary Libraires…
Same error occurred to me on Win XP pro after I synchronized the iTunes library (aka iTunes folder) with SyncBackSE for Windows, a window with error 13026 and the program is no longer start on my PC's.
Installed iTunes version 7.7.1 but it does't work the same; I had to eliminate all hidden Apple folders on my windows system in order to properly install and it work again!
Meanwhile, I lost all iTunes settings, playlist, synchronization of all application purchased from the AppStore and proper synchronization with my iPhone and 6 hours to put in order and in their place on my iPhone all my info!
