iTunes 8 cannot back up iPhone ("session could not be started")

Hi!

I've just downloaded iTunes 8, and try to sync my 16GB iPhone (2.0.2) But when it tries to back it up during sync (or when I explicitly press "Back Up"), it fails with a message: "iTunes could not back up the iPhone because a session could not be started with the iPhone."

What could be wrong?

Thanks!

I'm not sure if you all have resolved your issues but I ran into something similar. It was pretty confusing to figure out but in the end it seems to have fixed my issues. I believe that it has something to do with SyncServices as done by iSync (checked through Console error logs and tried quite a few things).

Anyway, I wrote it all up on how I fixed here: http://weblog.techdad.net/2008/11/17/fix-it-iphone-sync-session-could-not-be-sta rted/

Let me know either here on this thread or on the article if that worked, or if not, what DID eventually work.
