How To Copy DVDs to iPod using free software for Windows

To take existing DVDs that you have around the house and put them onto iPod:

You'll need two programs, DVD Decrypter and Videora iPod Converter.

Now, use this step by step tutorial for converting DVDs with DVD Decrypter. Note: Once you reach the part about PSP Video 9, stop watching and use the 'One Click Transcode' option in Videora to select and convert the VOB file that DVD Decrypter produces.

Once you have a converted file, add it to iTunes in the same way as music (drag it into the iTunes library) and it will automatically copy across to your iPod.

I'm going to sound like a broken record here, but are you 100% that it isn't H.264? That would cause problems.

Now, the major test is to try playing it in Quicktime... if it displays correctly then the problem is not with the ripping, it must be the conversion. Try using the MPEG-4/320x240/768kbps/128kbps Stereo profile in Videora; that is known to work.

If it does not work with Quicktime, can you open the .VOB file up in a DVD playback application? You may need to open up your DVD player and select the source folder manually.

If that still does not work, then you've a ripping problem.

Double check your settings and give those tests a go. Any luck/problems, get back to us.

Please explain... what page is causing that? If it's any consolation, the three pages I linked to are all working fine at the moment... perhaps a server error?

I got that too, but when I scrolled down farther onto the page, I could see that it was in the process of loading and then I got into it just fine.

Already asked that question in another topic but....
If you arent using DVD file you just press One Click Transcode for Mpeg files?

If you have MP4 file that have format as QuickTime movie do you have to do that transcode? And when i do a transcode for QuickTime player it ends it in like 0 sec and makes a file MPEG-4 that takes 0bytes is it how it suppose to be?

Unless you want to choose the quality profile, you can use the One Click Transcode for any type of media file.

Unless your Quicktime movie will not transfer to the iPod (if iTunes gives an error), then you do not need to convert it. That may explain the odd results, I'm not sure.

I started out with my original dvd and used the dvd decrypter and converted the dvd. i changed the location to a new folder. then i did the one click transcode on videora and it finished. but when i tried to import the file from the folder into itunes it didnt work?

anyone know why?

all you have to do is drag the quick time file into your itunes library than transfer it onto your ipod

ya but the file isnt quicktime. it shows a piece of paper with a windows media player logo in the center and it says "VTS011" and i cant change it to quicktime because it says that it isnt a movie file.

Kamal,

You need to add the file that Videora produces to your iTunes Library. It should be a .mp4 file.

Ok, i did one of my movies and when it works on my ipod and everythign, but it only shows one pic and audio is playing. And it skips to a diffrent pic sometimes... the audio is done but the actual vid is only one scence after another it doesn't run. Help... wut r u supposed t put for setup?

When I open the dvd decrypter, it is not registering that a dvd is in the drive. Any help?

Hello.. I have a question similar to your post here.. How can I get my videos off of my limewire software? I have been able to transfer the videos to LimeWire, and they play on iTunes.. but when I go to import the selected videos to the iPod.. they don't go. Can you help?
