How To Copy DVDs to iPod using free software for Windows

To take existing DVDs that you have around the house and put them onto iPod:

You'll need two programs, DVD Decrypter and Videora iPod Converter.

Now, use this step by step tutorial for converting DVDs with DVD Decrypter. Note: Once you reach the part about PSP Video 9, stop watching and use the 'One Click Transcode' option in Videora to select and convert the VOB file that DVD Decrypter produces.

Once you have a converted file, add it to iTunes in the same way as music (drag it into the iTunes library) and it will automatically copy across to your iPod.

Ok, I thought I had this. I converted my DVD to a VOB file using the DVD decrypter. Then I converted the VOB file to an mp4 using videora iPod converter. My end result is the movie with the director's commentary throughout the whole thing! Ugg! How do I fix that? (The movie LOOKS good though...lol!)

Well is there a way to fix this cuz i have that in 2 out of 3 movies and well im not sure what to do???

Thank you very much. This is a very useful tips. Somehow, I have a question about this process. Could I possibly add subtitle to the video file also?
What I've tried to do for couple times is checking the box of subtitle file along with the movie file and audio file before letting DVD Decrypter converts the DVD file. However, the DVD Decrypter gives me two VOB files--one file is the movie with sound and another file I believe is a subtitle file. And from this point, I can't use Videora to convert those two files simultaneously into one MPEG4 file, so I always get only the movie without the subtitle. Are there any ways to make it come out in one complete file?

Unfortunately, my attempts to rip a short episode of Ren And Stimpy have met with failure.

I followed the steps for the DVD Ripper to the step, converted it with the Videora, but 0 luck getting it on the iPod as it says :

"Some of the videos in your Itunes Library, including the video "(the one ripped and converted)" were not copied to the iPod because they cannot be played on this iPod. "

Now the file is 149 Megs, Mpeg-4, Bitrate 64 kbps, Sample Rate 48.000 kHz, ... the resolution was default in Videora (which works with other files I had to convert, but none of them were ripped)

Since Videroa seems to work with other files, I am thinking something was wrong with the Ripping...Now, I did follow the directions quite strictly, and wondering maybe of trying a different Ripper unless someone else has any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Joe
