How To Copy DVDs to iPod using free software for Windows

To take existing DVDs that you have around the house and put them onto iPod:

You'll need two programs, DVD Decrypter and Videora iPod Converter.

Now, use this step by step tutorial for converting DVDs with DVD Decrypter. Note: Once you reach the part about PSP Video 9, stop watching and use the 'One Click Transcode' option in Videora to select and convert the VOB file that DVD Decrypter produces.

Once you have a converted file, add it to iTunes in the same way as music (drag it into the iTunes library) and it will automatically copy across to your iPod.

This means that the DVD is either not recognised; scratched to oblivion; or that DVD Decrypter is looking in the wrong place.

The most likely story is that you have a standard DVD reader drive, and a DVD writer drive. DVD decrypter is looking the the wrong place. Without changing settings, try using the disk in the other drive. If this is not the case, make sure it works in a DVD player application... then try again.

I want to say thank you Jamie, for those links and also the tutorial. I was able to do this very easily, and I have now put my first full length DVD onto my Ipod.

One question, which files are okay to delete without losing the movie in order to conserve space on my hard drive.

And also, did someone suggest buying a seperate hard drive just to keep movies on?
