WPA on 2nd Gen 2.1.1

Has anyone else had any issues connecting their 2nd gen iPod touch to a wireless network with WPA/PSK? I tried it unsecured and it worked, tried a password with no special characters, and then a password with only lowercase characters. Any one run into this? I haven't tried WEP yet but I don't really want to settle on that and didn't feel like entering hex into the iPod.

I too am having the issues everyone else is. I have a DLink DIR-655 and a 2nd Gen iPod Touch. I've tried everything anyone suggests in the thread as a possible fix and none work...

Interesting, if I leave my iPod plugged in it will maintain a wifi connection all the time. As soon as I unplug it and lock the Touch, then unlock it it takes several minutes to get it's wifi connection back...

Joining it to my wifi was a complete nightmare. I had to continually click the join button until finally it joined the network...

I've given the Touch a reserved IP, my router is configured to accept all types of connections (N, G, B) and different types of encryption protocols (AES, TKIP) and I too am using WPA/WPA2...

I sent a support request to DLink in hopes that potentially there is something they might be able to do from the firmware side but, I haven't heard a peep... I assume you all have contacted Apple...

This really needs to be addressed...

Judging by the number of replies here and also the number of reads of this topic... this is not an uncommon problem! Still i thought i'd add my name on the end in the hope that it might be solved that bit sooner...

ITs the same problem, new iPod touch v2.1.1 refuses to connect to a WPA2 wireless network on my Dlink router (DI-524). Works ok with WPA interestingly...

All,

I have had a **** of a time with this as well. I have read all of the posts here and have similar logs as posted below. I am using a d-link dir-655 as well. a work around for this issue is to create a guest network with the wep security (make sure you do not check the "enable routing between zones box") this feature is found in the advanced section - guest zone. hope this helps...at least till 2.1.2....hopefully

by the way i have the latest version of firmware for the router

It seems like in most cases, whoever has a D-Link DIR-655 Extreme N router will experience difficulties to connect to internet. I did call Apple Tech support and D-Link support, nobody would offer me any solutions whatsoever. This is a really frustrating situation as a loyal IPod customer. I properbly play with my IPod until the return due date about to come, then return it. Or hopefully, someone at Apple will listen to everybody who has this issue and get us an explaination or a fix to maintain the loyality.

I am having the same problem with my second generation ipod touch. Unable to join network. I have found a workaround for the moment. If I go into my router settings and disable SSID broadcast I can connect. If I get out of range I have to go back in and enable SSID again. There is a major bug in the 2.1 firmware I suppose. Hopefully if enough people complain something will happen. I certainly do not want to make my network unsecured. Wireless is insecure enough as it is!
