WPA on 2nd Gen 2.1.1

Has anyone else had any issues connecting their 2nd gen iPod touch to a wireless network with WPA/PSK? I tried it unsecured and it worked, tried a password with no special characters, and then a password with only lowercase characters. Any one run into this? I haven't tried WEP yet but I don't really want to settle on that and didn't feel like entering hex into the iPod.

Well, I have to say, I tried everything suggested in every forum I could find on this issue, and still I am unable to connect. I paid $450 including tax for this miserable piece of technology and have wasted 6 hours of my life trying to get it to do what Apple designed it to do. Apple products are supposed to be user friendly for people who do not have a lot of time and their price tag reflects that.

My conclusion to this experience is, if this iPod ever connects to my DIR655, I WOULD HAVE TO BE AN IT EXPERT IN ORDER TO FIGURE OUT. That goes against everything Apple stands for. If I can connect my Blackberry Bold to this router, you would think Apple would have the competence to create a product that would make this process even easier. Why is the first Gen Touches working fine? Who messed up?

Apple, I am disappointed. I cannot afford to spend any more time with this nonsense as I am very busy. I am returning this "piece of technology" and sticking to my 5th Generation iPod. Thank you for wasting my time.

I bought and returned an iPod Touch 2g because of this issue. Purchased four days ago and returned two days ago. It would initially connect to a wifi network and then after some time it would disconnect. If I set up the same network again it would then connect for a while and then disconnect. I had other wireless devices with me that would not lose their connection. This would happen at work and with my home wireless network. I tried reseting the network settings; soft resets of the iPod, and hard resets of the iPod.

I setup and support dense wireless networks as part of my job. This problem is a problem with the iPod touch; no doubt.

I have a itouch 2nd gen that I have had NO problems connecting to my home WiFi. All I did was go to the following on my itouch settings/ general/ about. When you see the ABOUT tab click on it and scroll to the bottom and you should see a Wi-Fi Address (+alternatively known as a MAC address as well+) write dt down and keep it for now.
You now need to log into your wireless modem settings and enter the address details in the MAC address of your router section.
That is it then all you have to do click on the "You Tube" application and the itouch will should bring up your wifi network all you need to do now is enter the password and you should be connected.
My Modem is a Belkin: F5D8230-4
