WPA on 2nd Gen 2.1.1

Has anyone else had any issues connecting their 2nd gen iPod touch to a wireless network with WPA/PSK? I tried it unsecured and it worked, tried a password with no special characters, and then a password with only lowercase characters. Any one run into this? I haven't tried WEP yet but I don't really want to settle on that and didn't feel like entering hex into the iPod.

The update worked for me too. WPA and WPA2 now connect fine. Was about time.

All other optiones mentioned in this thread didn't work before. I could only use WEP and also had to switch the wifi on/off a couple times before a connection could be made.

In the meantime i set up a guestzone network (which was possible from the latest router firmware update). It had WEP and was seperate from my main WPA2 protected one. WEP and WPA (or trivial things like MAC address filtering) would not really be good options for a main network, for obvious security reasons. So, glad WPA2 works now.

For some reason, my iPod Touch never exhibited this problem, but I'm nonetheless grateful that Apple created a fix. It is too bad they they are so tight-lipped about problems with their products, but at least they turned around a fix in reasonably short order. I realize it probably didn't feel short to those who had the problem.

Hi!
Now can use the WIFI feature on my Ipod Touch V2!
I updated the Apple firmware update from November 20th AND I bought a new Wireless router.
I noticed that someone had the DLINK 655 and mentioned that it worked for them. So I bought one and made sure that I had the most up to date version of the firmware from DLINK. The DLINK 655 was about $130 CDN.
It took about 2 hours to get everything set up, but now everything seems to work. I now have a SECURE wifi connection.
Just thought that I would pass on the word.
I am kind of ticked off that I had to wait 2 months to use this feature at home. But... I suspect that I will be very happy with my purchase.
I wish everyone good luck and I want to say thanks to everyone for their suggestions!

Unfortunately, 2.2 has not solved my problem (nor has any of the suggestions on this list).

Wi-Fi was working fine on my iPod Touch until approximately 1 week ago. Then my iPod simply stopped connecting to any networks. (It WAS working with the WiFi at my house and the WiFi at my office).

It now won't connect to any WiFi. Including ones that have no protection. It also doesn't recognize nearly as many hotspots as it did before. In fact, I need to be almost sitting on my wireless router for the iPod to even recognize it.

Any ideas.

I have a iTouch that worked fine with my WPA2 network using 2.0.

2.1 was released and broke it.

I assumed 2.2 would fix it but, much to my surprise, it didn't.

I can see my network but can't join.

My Linksys WRT54G router is already on the latest firmware.

I tried WEP and Open but to no avail.

I am now going to see a Genius in the Apple store in Thursday to see if it can connect to any network.

I find it hard to believe the iTouch is faulty as it has worked in the past.

Sigh.

DIR-655 (Firmware v1.21)
========================
To confirm, it appears to work correctly finally. So far WPA/WPA2 working & YouTube streaming correctly.

DIR-624 (Latest Firmware)
=========================
Worked under WPA before (intermittent issues), however YouTube would not stream. With v2.2 update, it still does not stream YouTube.

We have got feedback on a LinkSys, Sonicwall & Netgear wireless units and it appears that Apple mostly fixed the problem -- but not completely.
