iTunes 8 & Vista 64: iPhone not detected

Well, I installed the new iTunes on my Vista 64 without problems and everything seemed to be working just fine. Then I plugged in my iPhone 3G. Aaaannnd.... nothing. Doesn't show up at all. I done reinstalls twice, making sure I was using the 64-bit versions, and still nothing. Vista recognizes the connection and it shows up in my device lists, but iTunes doesn't see it. Haven't had this issue on my 32-bit machine.

Driver issues maybe?

Well I'm not sure if we're all having the exact same issue as some are on windows xp, some on vista, etc. But I can tell you guys what worked for me. I decided to try the solution for Windows Vista displaying a BSOD when you connect the iphone and installing the newer version of itunes on the site and now everything works fine. I can connect it as many times as I want without worrying about it not being recognized the next time. Here's a link: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2280
