I just upgraded to iTunes v8, and tried to buy some music. The first half of the album downloaded just fine, but the rest...I got an unknown error (-42023). Anyone know what this means? Please help me!
By the way, if it helps any, I was buying the Dr. Horrible soundtrack.
I second that motion: do NOT retstart iTunes, despite what the official 'help' file says.
Restarting will only blank it out of your library -- and 'resume purchases' doesn't help. You're better off staying with the list displayed and hitting 'retstart' constantly until they resume properly.
Quitting iTunes only erases your download list -- and then you're at the mercy of their customer 'service' staff.
iTunes customer 'service' was as clinically useless as usual. I received a form letter directing me to the official 42023 error page, even though my initial email stated, very clearly, that I had already attempted those procedures to no avail.
I'm in the same boat!!! I keep buying music thats not downloading. I did every thing called, email, report the error nothing worked! I called support and got my money back. Then today for some reason I said let by another cd same thing on or two songs download! I think I'm going to rhapsody apple better get together fast!
Same problem here. 3 different releases haven't downloaded all the tracks with error message -42023 given. This seems sporadic though as some releases have downloaded in full. Tried repeatedly hitting resume but that hasn't worked. I've reported the problem and to iTunes credit, I have been refunded my money even though I have some of the tracks from a release. I have searched for the tmp files as suggested by iTunes support but there weren't any in the folder suggested. It's such a pain reporting the problem for each track separately from an album and it takes several emails before I get my money back that I've now given up and will not be using iTunes Store until iTunes is updated.
Also on Tiger and itunes 8. The overall lack of action/response I'm seeing here with this bug smells like forcing tiger users over to leopard. You know, where things slowly stop working 1 at a time with your current operating system but you hear how it works just fine with the newer OS... đ
I've tried every suggestion in the thread and the help pages and I'm still no further on in getting my 45 songs with this 42023 error. Luckily they we're cheap tracks.
No more iTunes store purchases for me I'm sticking with free podcasts until they sort this.
After updating to 8.0.2, I was able to successfully download all 6 tracks of Voice of the Seven Woods "The Journey" EP. They weren't Plus files, so maybe the DRM processing was different, but this was my first happy experience with the store n my Mac since the version 8 install.
It looks iTunes 8.0.2 has solved my problems i.e. -42023 error while downloading and failure of authorization during playback although readme of 8.0.2 doesn't say anything related to my issues.
wait for all the songs you are downloading to download. then when this error occurs, retry the download. don't have anything else downloading when doing this and go one at a time.
it worked for me, just make sure you don't have anything downloading when trying this
Yep, I tried all the "solutions" but none of them worked.
I've paid TWICE for Neil Young's Harvest, to no avail.
My wife asked for this album to take to a friend's house this afternoon on her iPod.
NO LUCK.
I have 8.0.1, and I am upgrading to 8.0.2 now, but I will have to quit iTunes & restart it, and that means that I'll lose the "hung" downloads "in progress"
