ITUNES 8.0 ERROR 13001 when trying to open music on ext. HD. HELP!!!!

I no longer can open the music on my external HD. This began immediately after I loaded ITunes 8.0.

I have most of my music on my Lacie external HD. I know how to switch from the music on my powerbook's HD to the music on my external HD by holding down option key while opening ITunes and then selecting the ITunes file on my external HD. Since I added 8.0. I am able to open the ITunes folder on my powerbook, but when I try to open the folder on my external HD by using the option key and choosing the ITunes folder on the external drive (which always worked in the past) I get this 130001 Error message.

Can anyone help me with this? I can no longer play 95% of my music. Perhaps there's a glitch in the new software. HELP!!!!! User uploaded file

Similar problem, since iTunes 8 upgrade.

I use a a LaCie NAS (LaCie ED Mini Home Edition, a networked disk server with iTunes server capability)...Before the upgrade, i could see and play my complete networked music library in shared Hipserv:iTunes from my two PCs.

Since the upgrade, shared Hipserv:iTunes is displays an empty list on the two PCs (but the networked library is still there, and it can be seen as files by both of them).

As a test, i decided to share my local library : the second PC had no problem to see and use it.

It seems to me that our similar problems may have the same cause.

Expecting for a solution ...

Solution - for those who are using LaCie ED Mini Home Edition at least.
(translated from French, using Windows PCs, please adapt to your case)

Use "HipServ Agent"
Choose "Navigate to my HipServ"
Enter Login/Password (administrator profile)
Choose "OurFiles"

It displays directories containing (at least) :
- OurDocuments
- OurPictures
- OurVideos
- OurMusic

The display shows 5 columns :
- Name
- Tag (?)
- Share
- Multimedia players
- Type
- Size

It appears that the "Multimedia player" corresponding to "OurMusic" has been deactivated by iTunes 8 upgrade.

- Click on the corresponding icon to re-activate it.
- Enjoy seeing your files coming back in your iTunes reader(s).

PS.
It more generally means that the iTunes server function included in the remote system has been disabled by the iTunes 8 upgrade.

I don't know if the Mac generated error corresponds exactly or not to the same problem and if it will be solved. Please let us know.
