2.1 - ActiveSync Cannot Get Mail still broken

I'm still experiencing the issue where my iPhone randomly stops getting mail from Exchange/ActiveSync. The first time I experienced it after the update I deleted and recreated the exchange account, it immediately resumed working. The second time I did a complete restore as a new phone, and the issue reappeared again a few hours later.

Here's what I do know:
-This issue is NOT with the exchange server as we have numerous other Windows Mobile devices using activesync with no service interruption whatsoever. The iPhone however will not receive mail on the Exchange account until I delete/reconfigure the account on the iPhone itself.
-Rebooting the iPhone used to work, however does not work anymore.
-I have even kept WiFi disabled so it's not related to switching between WiFi and 3G.
-I have 2 other accounts configured, a mobileme account set to sync contact and bookmarks only, and a gmail account.

Has Apple even officially acknowledged this issue?

Just a quick testimonial for Computer Repair Service from Phoenix at the top of this thread. I own a small company in Philly (home of the newly crowned World Series Champs!!!) and this guy is legit. I spent the entire w/e trying to configure my iPhone, countless hours on the phone with Apple (useless) and several days with my contract IT guys (even more useless) and then stumbled upon this thread. This guy asked for no money up front, he logged in and fixed my problem remotely in less than 30 minutes and THEN and only THEN did he email me an invoice. I thought you only got that kind of service in the South. My only regret was not finding this thread last Friday!

I read the posts here about this being spam and I understand that point of view and how this is supposed to be a forum for exchanging free informaion but me, a small business owner, who does not have the time and energy to scour the Internet for possible solutions welcome this type of service and am very thankful that I found it. And no, I did not ge tpaid to write this just very appreciative of what Robert did for me.

Alright - ours is finally working.

Hopefully this will help someone else out. Our IT guy had been using an IP address and port number for our server address. Turns out EAS had a hard time with either the port number, or how high the port number was. He reverted our server address to mail.yourdomain.com and everything worked. Since our self signed certificates now matched the server, we did not have to accept them either.

Now that it is up, I have been thrilled. Hope this helps.

When using in 1.1.4 with Exchange Server: smpt3.<something>.com/exchange . It was fine.
But in 2.2 with same URL for Exchange server, I got same problem like you guys, even I can not enter "Server" info = smtp3.<something>.com/exchange (only able to enter smtp3.<somthing>.com (and it passed when verifying)

I thought that the main problem of the issue with my case.

I searched High and Low, followed every article.. Created the second virtual directory. I have been around the world.

i resolved this by enabling Integrated authentication on the Exchange Virtual Directory in IIS in Security.

Try it, you won't be sad.. It worked straight away for me....

"Cannot Get Mail - The connection to the server failed" is all i got ever.. Every time i would recreate the account, account would get verified, etc etc.

Try it....

You are in the ball park. I too was having the same issue with the iphone in Exchange envirionment without SBS. Not only did I set the Integrated Windows Authentication in IIS> Default Website> Exchange but I had to do it in OMA as well. Remove the Required SSL from EXCHANGE in Authentication and Access control. Left it in OMA's, and made sure the Iphone was using SSL.
I want to thank you, for it was your thread that lead me to OMA directory as well for the security part. It should work for everyone.
Thanks,

SP

Hope this helps someone like me, who has trying to figure out what went wrong. I have an iPhone 3G and ActiveSync to Exchange 2003 was working perfect for month's. All of a sudden today it stopped syncing my inbox and my battery just about died? Searched and Searched, rebooted Exchange, removed email account info, still not luck keep getting "Cannot Get Mail" "The connection to the server failed" message. The weird thing is I could get to my sent items, Calendar and AD contacts? But this thread opened my eyes to what the problem was...a corrupt email in my inbox. Not sure what email it was I pretty much deleted every email I had after the last one I received on the iPhone. But it fixed the problem, no messing with Exchange virtual directories...nothing...just deleted a corrupt email!
Hope this helps someone.....

+1 for deleting/removing corrupt email.

I had the same problem as many on this thread (Calendar worked, Sent mail worked, etc, but not the Inbox). I knew it was something with my iPhone and not the ActiveSync server since my colleagues with iPhones weren't having any problems.

I was able to resolve my problem by creating a new folder under my Inbox using Outlook and then moving all the emails in my Inbox to that new folder. After doing that (and giving Exchange time to update itself), all new emails to my Inbox now show up on my iPhone.

So if you don't want to delete all your inbox emails and don't want to go thru them all looking for the corrupt one(s), try moving them to another folder.

Hope that helps.
