After running the OS X software update seeded today, iTunes is freezing whenever I am on the iTunes store. I cannot force quit and I also lose control of the mouse after a couple of minutes. I have to force a restart by holding the power button down for several seconds. It has happened 4 times and now I am afraid of going to the online store. Anyone experiencing this problem? I am using iTunes 8.0 BTW. This is the first time I have had to force restart my computer or had iTunes freeze on me.
so far so good. even purchased the new dark knight movie.
no freezes. the update does say that it has:
Includes graphics improvements for iChat, Cover Flow, Aperture, and iTunes.
Includes fixes for possible graphics distortion issues with certain ATI graphics cards.
OS X 10.5.6 + iTunes 8.0.2... let's see if the problem is fixed! I'm 12 minutes into browsing the store and it's still going. This might be a nice early-Christmas present!
this morning, still no freezes... I think they got it. I (and a similar following) also had a problem with Mail where the new mail sound would not sound about 50% of the time, and that looks fixed too now...
this appears to be a very worthwhile upgrade.... (just wish they could have eased the tension with a note that they were working on these)
the release notes really have nothing at all about these two bugs even.. it is just torture with the not knowing...
I have had no freezing with scrolling in the iTunes store(movies, podcasts, and other coverflow images) since the update. I hope that this keeps up and that the issue has indeed been resolved. I will continue to test this and report back if there is any change. As a side note, I verified and repaired disk permissions after the update was installed. Fingers remain crossed!
i updated to 10.5.6 this morning. as my main issue is not with iTunes, but with OS X itself, i am hoping for nothing short of stability with this latest update.
i am saddened to hear that there still appears to be an issue for most of you iMac users...i cannot reckon what it is that is "wrecking" your user experience in iTunes...but i wish you all luck and for your issue(s) to be fixed sooner rather than later!
keep y'all posted if i experience any weirdness with the newest update! 🙂
hate to burst your (our) bubble, but got this link from the Mac user group I belong to...it's about hundreds of problems already being reported for 10.5.6 😟
