itunes 8 choppy video playback

I run a Lenovo T61p notebook - 2.5 Ghz processor, 4 gigs of ram, 64 bit operating system and a nvidia quadro graphics card.

I never had problem playing back videos with a previous version of itunes, but once i installed 8 the video playback became slow and choppy. Almost certain that it is not a hardware issue.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I'm running Vista 64, with similar specs as you and also had this problem, but was able to fix it by adjusting the setting of my Quick Time Player. This is what I did:

1) Close iTunes
2) Open the Quick Time Player
3) Choose Edit >> Preferences >> Quick Time Preferences
4) Under Video, make sure the DirectX radio button is enabled and that the three check boxes below it are clicked.
5) Restart iTunes and test your video playback.

This fixed it for me. Now my video plays as smooth as a whistle, even full screen at 1920 by 1200 resolution.
