Headphones Mute my Microphone

Are you certain that your headphones are plugged all the way in.

I notice that it takes and extra little push to get the headphones properly seated in the 3G compared to the first generation phone.

I've had the same problem a few days ago, after receiving a call on my hand-free system, it seems to be related to all the problems coming with the use of headset, like the sound not going back to normal after using the headset.
I can't believe that Apple hasn't solved that issue after so long. It is insulting to all the people who are Apple consumers, a matter that simple should have been resolved in no time. It's a major issue an d I shouldn't have to tweak my Iphone for hours to be able to ear when someone is calling.

I have some Sony headphones that indicate "work with iPhone" and they do. These are stereo in-the-ear headphones without a mic. Sometimes the mic on the iPhone is activated and sometimes not. It depends on if the mic pin in the jack isn't making contact with the conductive "mismatched" part of the plug. In other words, headphones without a mic will worked, but are a jury rig at best.

You spent a few hours trying to fix that?

Hi only headphones with 3 grooves at the jack can allow for speaker to be used. So not all headphones can be used.

hi those headphones with 3 grooves at the jack will have microphone. those with 2 grooves will not come with a microphone so the other party wont be able to hear you.
