Music library disappeared after iTunes update

I just updated to iTunes. I cannot find any of my music in the library or play lists.
I read some posts about it. However I am not sure what exactly i should do in order to get the songs back to the iTunes library wherever the songs are. I have not deleted any of them.

Please help. This has not happened to me with any previous updates.

The same thing happened to me. I lost thousands of songs. Most of them are backed up on a separate hard drive, but I probably lost about 100 songs forever. What is the deal?????
