Change System Icons (How to...)

I use Leo's Icon Archive a lot and I found a nice set to update my OSX with, but I don't know how.

the Blend icon set is this one and all icons come as ICNS file extension, if I copy and replace the icon of my Hard drive using copy paste in the Get Info widown I get this:

User uploaded file

just a ICNS file icon instead the actual content of the file.

Can anyone help me on how to change the system icons?

Thank you in advanced.

Open the icns file in preview, and then copy it from there. Then paste it into the info window, and you'll have the actual picture.

Alternatively, you could copy it to the root level of the volume, and name it ".VolumeIcon.icns" (without the quotes, and this would have to be done through terminal, Finder won't let you do it.)
