how to remove the track number in the song's filename

I recently started using iTunes 8. When I rip a CD now, the file name create starts with the track number. For example, "01 song name.mp3", "02 another song name.mp3", etc. This seems to be new behavior. How can I tell
iTunes to not prepend the track number?

I hate when Apple (& Microsoft) remove features from software that I regularly use. That's why I look at other software from smaller companies because they are more inclined to have (and do) what the user wants, not the developer.
Thanks for the info about Media Monkey. It looks like it might do what I need.
