Did 2.1 update fix the Bose SoundDock Portable Audio Problem?

I hadn't tried docking my iPhone 3G in my Bose SoundDock Portable speakers for some time because of the commonly discussed audio 'popping' problem (at least commonly discussed back in July).

So when I put my iPhone 3G in the dock tonight I was happily surprised by perfectly clean audio (after an hour of listening anyway). My assumption is that the 2.1 update fixed this (an old post suggested that Bose had said that a future software update from Apple would solve the problem). My two questions are:

1) Can anyone else validate that the 'popping' problem has disappeared and/or that the fix was the 2.1 update? I searched everything I could find on benefits of 2.1, but this unsurprisingly was not mentioned anywhere.

2) Can charging on the SoundDock be hard on the iPod's/iPhone's battery life?

Sincerely,
Steven

Before the iPhone software update 2.1, my iPhone would every 3.39 seconds maka a popping sound, the screen would flash on, the music would fade then things would return to normal. I talked with Bose technical support several times about this and they said that they were working with apple to fix the problem. The problem was, that apple stoped using 12v firewire pins to charge the iphone and switched to 5v usb pins. However with the iPhone 2.1 update my iPhone was worked flawlessly in the Bose Sounddock Portable with absolutly no interferience at all. I did talk to apple about the affect of charging the iPhone in the Sounddock and they said that it would have no affect on it at all.

Thanks,
Eric
