iTunes as a true jukebox?

Hey all,

Just wondering if anyone has any ideas about using iTunes as a true jukebox?

Basically I want to be able to set a playlist of songs or use the party shuffle and set it playing but if someone wants to browse my song list they can and then add the songs as the next to be played like you would with a physical jukebox. Simply enter the number of the song and it will play it next instead of stopping the current song and playing the new one, I want it to finish the current song.

Anyone any ideas?

If you chose "Add to Party Shuffle" yes. If you chose "Play next in Party Shuffle", the song(s) are added after the currently playing song.

For instance if I have it set for 10 songs and someone goes to select 5 songs does it then play >those 5 songs or disregard the other choices and only play the 5th chosen one?

It doesn't matter what number you have selected to Show. It adds them. Where depends on which option was selected. See above.

If they select add to party list, does that mean it will be random if that song shows up so it may be >better to have say 30 songs in the list if I expect many choices that way people are bound to hear >what they want?

The number you have chosen in Party Shuffle options is not the number of songs that are in the Party Shuffle list. It's the number you can see at any one time. If you have selected your entire music library as the Source, the number of songs that Party Shuffle has to chose from is equal to the number of songs in your library. This number you've chose to show gets overridden when you add songs by right clicking.

A lot of this will make more sense if you play around with it.

Best of luck.

Play next in Party Shuffle is a very good point I didn't realise this option was in there. I wish there was some sort of button there for it though to make it really idiot proof.

For multiple selections does it just keep adding at the end? For instance if I have it set for 10 songs and someone goes to select 5 songs does it then play those 5 songs or disregard the other choices and only play the 5th chosen one? If they select add to party list, does that mean it will be random if that song shows up so it may be better to have say 30 songs in the list if I expect many choices that way people are bound to hear what they want? I know that option depends on the length of the party, if only for 2 hours it's not worth it but for parties that start at 6pm and go until maybe 2am it might be a good idea 🙂
