Central management of Antivirus. McAfee AV 6.6?

This may be a bit off topic, but I wanted to get some feedback from Sys admins.

We have an EPO server that does central control and reporting for McAfee (Antivirus and System Compliance) on our windows boxes, and I would like to have some type of central scanning control of our Macs. 2 Questions?

1)Is anyone using McAfee AV 8.6 on on their Macs, and if so, whats your opinion on things like performance (MCAfee tends to use a lot of CPU on windows), and problems, etc. ?

2)Also are there other alternatives that allow for central control?

Mac Pro Quad, iMac 20, iMac24, Mac OS X (10.5.4)

It can happen with any company, seriously. Read my post above about the corporate edition of NAV for Mac. It took me literally months to get someone there to acknowledge what I knew to be the case but could not get info or support on.

When I spoke to Sophos and let them know the number of seats involved, they also did not mention the more expensive Mac mgt. option. Not surprising really.
They also let me know that it was not in any currently (then) available documentation, but that it might be possible to run your own linux/unix/whatever ftp box to store updates and point clients at that. I didn't pursue that at the time.
