How to embed video player in iPhone application?

Hello Everybody,

I want to embed video player in my application. I have one sample code provided by the iPhone developer documentation. But it is not running properly , it is just showing one rounded progress indicator and it is rotating n rotating and never coming to an end. Can any one here , tell me how do I proceed to embed video player in my application?

Any information regarding this is highly appreciable.

Yup, your problem is quicktime on your Mac (I bet it runs fine on your device/iphone). Check out this thread:

Hi,

Yes,you are right.I have seen the sample code but when I am testing it , It is not showing me the player and also not playing the video. And that's why I am not getting the flow correctly. 🙂

I am curious if you are testing this on Simulator or actual device, cause simulator doesnt support many features that actual device does. For example, if your app tries to create and send an email, simulator wouldn't recognize the mail url, but it would work fine on actual device.

I am testing it on simulator not on actual device. But if it is like this? Can't I check my videoplayer code on iPhone simulator?

Is this not possible to check it on iPhone simulator?

Pandit,

do you mean that the smaple code runs but doesn't play the video? Have you run through it in the debugger to check for errors? The sample video player runs fine AFAIK.

Some more info would help.

Hi Roger,

Actually, Code is running fine and not giving any error. When I am clicking on "Play Movie" button then iPhone is getting flipped with one window having black screen and round progress indicator is rotating in middle of the screen. But no picture. I also debug the code , all the necessory paths of the video files are same. I think there are two possibilities in this issue, either video is not getting loaded properly or iPhone simulator is not providing the necessary requirement to run video file.

Is there anything I am missing then please let me know.

Is this issue having any relationship with the quicktime player installed on the Mac machine because we are building our iPhone application code with iPhone OS 2.0. I think it wont use our mac machine resources, isn't it? I am not sure....I may be wrong...

Hi ,

I go through the link which you have provided. According to that link I have to install codecs for quicktime player or have to remove DivX Decoder.Component,Motion.component etc. But in my machine at "/Library/QuickTime/" folder there is only one component present i.e. macam.component. No any other components are present. Can you tell me which codec should I have to install in to my machine?
