TimeCapsule Won't Mount for Backup

My TimeCapsule is running on automatic for backups but for the past several days, I get a message that the disk won't mount. It worked flawlessly for months. I can connect to the capsule through the finder for manual storage and the wireless works very well. Restarted everything including the ADSL modem that links our network to the internet (and TimeCapsule). Ran Airport Utility several times with no luck. Help!

The problem I have with that is, I don't know why it is messing up in the first place. For all i know, it will do this again in a few weeks or months. And what would the point of a backup be if you have to delete it after a little while?
There must be a way to fix this without loosing all the data backed up already.

I have noticed a LOT of people who have complained about the same problem. The disc won't mount, or it is stuck in "preparing"... Apple must know about this and be working on some kind of solution, but is there any word from them about this at all?

I might try this in a little bit if I have to, but I really want to keep all my backups.
