iTunes 8 Store connection issues

I know there have been a few posts about this, but I was curious as to whether or not there has been any developments on how to fix it. I had iTunes 7.6.. before 8 and I downloaded a couple songs from iTunes for the first time, went to download another song and it told me to update my iTunes, so I did, now I cannot open anything related to the Store( can't sign in, look at podcasts, etc.). I've tried everything I could think of to try to fix it, firewall, Internet pop-up blocker, Internet setting/security. I deleted iTunes from my computer and reloaded it a couple times, and once with the original iTunes cd I recieved with my iPod. I'm not so upset because I don't have the Store, but more because I spent $300+ on my iPod and I want good service from Apple. I'm also ticked because I can't figure out how to fix it, and I'm somewhat computer savvy. Please help!

yea i get the 11222 error also whenever i go through my email to sign into my iTunes account.

i'm more upset about it because i spent so much money on Apple crap and it doesnt work...also that i cant figure out how to fix it.

talked to an Apple store guy the other day and he said its more than likely my computer than it is iTunes...but i talked to a BestBuy guy also and he said it sounds more like an iTunes problem since i can still connect to the internet.

im having to rely on YouTube now to listen to some music that i dont have in my library.

Me, too. I'm on Windows XP Pro and my wife is on a Mac running OS 10. When I opened iTunes on her computer a message came up asking if I wanted to upgrade to version 8. I declined as I would be out on the street if I screw up my wife's iTunes like I have mine. Anyway, I was able to log on to my account through the Mac. All this tells me, though, is that the Mac and/or the older version of iTunes allows me in while Windows and/or the new version of iTunes won't. Someone on another thread mentioned that Amazon has a very good and easy to use MP3 service which works in some fashion with iTunes. I might check that out if Apple can't find a fix for this pretty quickly. Next thing I will try is removing the iTunes application and see if I can reinstall my previous version. I'll let you know if I have any luck.

I have got the exact same problem and have never before had a problem with iTunes 8, it's a very odd occurrence! (also very frustrating!). How one day I can download away to my heart's content and the next day keep getting told my network connection is timing out when I've not updated or changed any software on my computer is beyond me. I'm also not particularly internet/computer clued-up so help would be much appreciated!

As an update to my previous post, I uninstalled iTunes 8, and reinstalled iTunes 6.x since I still had an installer for that version (it appears that Apple does not make older versions available for download which it seems would be helpful in situations such as this), but when I attempted to open iTunes, a message came up saying that I needed to reinstall iTunes. I uninstalled iTunes version 6.x and downloaded a fresh copy of the iTunes 8 installer and repeated the installation. Unlike the last time I installed iTunes 8, I can't even get the iTunes interface to open up. Instead I get the same message to reinstall iTunes. In reference to meade's post, I rebooted after each reinstall and it hasn't made any difference for me. I've pretty much had it. Apple has a serious software glitch on their hands and they need to start acting like they're interested in fixing it, or Amazon is going to start getting a flood of new customers.

yea i did the same thing. i had some message saying somethin about iTunes not having the correct files or something or another like that...i think there is some file that newer versions have that older ones dont.

ive rebooted my computer so many times i lost count. i tried to reboot my router/modem whichever it is...and that didnt work either. hopefully 8.2 will work....kinda of a longshot it seems...but i do hope it works.

I'm having the same problem. I kept ignoring the option to update to the latest itunes but all of a sudden I was getting the "Connection attempt to Apple web site was unsuccessful. The network connection timed out." Asking me to check my network connections. I figured this might be because I wasn't using the latest iTunes software. I AM connected to the internet, and I've run the diagnostics test a thousand times and flushed the DNS and rebooted and shut down etc. all at least a dozen times. I've even re-installed itunes a couple of times and double checked my firewall and pop-up settings, but still nothing. I don't know why the **** this all of a sudden stopped working a few days ago, but I'm starting to get really ******. I'm on a wireless connection, but my roommate isn't having ANY problems, she just walked in here to prove her's works just fine.

I'm two seconds from marching down to the itunes store and demanding answers!

Yes I also once I opened Itunes, a pop up claimed a NEWER version was avalable to download and install it. I did no it never connects to the Itunes store, I get this message the error message says :"iTunes could not connect to the iTunes store. The network connection timed out. Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, then try again."
So Please Apple repair your issues ASAP. I am unable to use my iphone doing my iphone developer things I am working on, BTW thank you for removing the NDA agreement to all us developers, NOW that was a very smart move Steve. thanks col Denis
