BMW 1 Series (iDrive) and iPhone - incorrect PIN ?

Hi All,

I have a Sept 2007 1 series with idrive/bluetooth... from what i've read most people seem to be able to pair their iphone with the BMW BT ok, but i can't even get that far !

When trying to pair, i can see the bmw device, enter a pin on the iphone, enter the same pin on the car system, and then get an error on the iphone saying cannot pair. I know officially this isn't listed, but most people seem to suggest it works, with possible echo and address book issues

Other phones work OK, and other BT headsets & Parrot car kit works OK with the iphone

iPhone (original 2G) is running v2.1 of the software

Does anyone know if this should pair at least or have any suggestions ?

It should pair, as I tested a 128i convertible a few weeks ago with iDrive for a week. I remember having some trouble with the pairing, but (and sorry I can't remember this more specifically) you have to move the iDrive controller up (I believe) to move onto the next step in the pairing process. Being new to iDrive, I found that part of the iDrive interface frustrating and hard to understand. It did eventually work, though.

Thanks for the reply, i did eventually get it working - removed the bluetooth device again, and read on another forum about going into settings, and "reset network settings" it then did pair OK !

i have the same problem, but with normal headset not a car one, it keeps saying incorrect pin number... also on 2.1 ... dunno what to do... did a Network Reset but didnt help too..
