Videos with multiple audio tracks

Something I've wanted for ages is the option to play videos with multiple audio tracks. I have been regularly encoding my DVDs with Handbrake to include the regular audio, AC3 passthrough for 5.1 and the commentary tracks.

With the iPhone I can easily switch between the regular audio and the commentary.

ATV 2.1 would just pick up the AC3 track.

Now ATV2.2 will default to the regular AAC track unless I go to the new chapter/audio selection menu and manually select the AC3 track. Annoying but I can live with it.

However, although the menu will list all the AAC tracks (listing them all as "English (stereo)") it just has a tick next to all the tracks and whichever one I select just results in the normal AAC track.

Is it because Handbrake doesn't have the option of giving unique names to the audio tracks? This doesn't affect the iPhone or iTunes. Why should it be a problem for ATV?

Got an almost kind of (but not really) similar problem. I have videos with multiple audio (AAC and AC3 passthru) in an m4v file. the AAC is always defaulted with the "enable" tick in the properties box. I've tried almost everything I can think of to enable the AC3 track by default so that frontrow or QT will play it. but everytime I save (even save-as) it defaults back to the AAC stereo.

Any ideas? is this a "feature" of 7.5.5?
