Question

Curving arrows

Hi,
I am trying to produce a number of curved arrows that go around in a circle and the point of one fits almost into the tail of the next. Can I do it in Keynote or do I need another package?

It may be tricky in Keynote, unless someone already has made one you could copy.

MS Office 2008 has some dedicated function for this, as far as I remember, in case you have access to that package.

I've been looking for even an svg version of an arrow cycle, but haven't found one. Without Keynote having an ARC tool, or a way to join or cut points, it'd be really hard to do freehand.

Have you tried in Illustrator, Inkscape or NeoOffice? If no one has tried, and it would make someone happy to have an arrow cycle, I could check to see what could be done.

I haven't tried, but I would think a series of arcs is all that's needed (because you can set the arrows in Keynote). Since Keynote wouldn't be able to change the length of the arcs, a set of arcs from 3 to six divisions might be good as well.

Kyn, I created an svg file with four circular arrow circles. If you send me a mail (my mail address is in my profile), I can send it to you. You may be able to do something with it.

I'm really interested in the way the conversation is going, though I have to say that I don't understand it all. I was trying to recreate a spiral dynamic model of learning with the 3 arrows on a lateral plane in a circle and a fourth arrow turning upwards to link with the next spiral above. Even more difficult! In my presentation I would have introduced each arrow at a time and said where we are in the learning cycle. As I said, I was trying to recreate the model, as it already exists. Thanks for trying people. I am grateful for your time and expertise.

I created an svg (in Visio) and sent it to Kyn, who sent a cleaned up keynote file back to me.

If you mail me your address, I can send you the keynote file, which you should be able to copy the shapes from.

Have you tried Animation Factory? They have lots of curved animated arrows. They come in white and black backgrounds. The transparent background was broken in KN 08. Take a look. Maybe its what you are looking for.
