I'm having the same problem, but I'm not sure that the backup process is actually completing. The sync continues as normal, but I get the "applemobilebackup.exe has stopped working" error just as my backup was about to end.

I'm curious, do you have AirSharing installed on your iPhone?

Reading about this error elsewhere leads me to beleive that this is an iPhone-related problem, NOT a Windoes Vista problem. Other users of Windows XP and Mac OS X are having the same problem.

Some users, like me, have mentioned having large files in the AirSharing app, so I was just wondering if that could be a problem.

Daves_Iphone,

Have you tried reinstalling the Apple Mobile Device Support along with iTunes, or just restarting the Apple Mobile Device Support?

Hope this helps,

I'm still having this problem, and have determined that (for me) it is DEFINITELY related to having large files stored on my iPhone.

The problem still exists with 2.2.

When I copy a file that is 430mb to my iPhone (using an app called AirSharing), the backup works the first time but from then on MobileBackup.exe crashes near the end of the backup process.

If I remove the large file from the phone, everything works fine.

Can anyone else relate to this? Is there a known bug with MobileBackup for files exceeding a certain size?
