Bluetooth Headphone Problems

I just purchased some Sony DR-BT50 bluetooth headphones and can't get them to work. I just want to use them to listen to iTunes, streaming video and DVD's; no telephone or other usage. Setup and pairing goes perfectly (shows up in the list and the right model number etc.) but when I go to connect for usage, bluetooth lists the device but as not connected. When I go to "Browse Device" it finds it for a couple of seconds then closes the connection and I get the message "The device does not have the necessary services". Anybody have suggestions? Thanks very much.

Hey Jim Thomas1
I just received my first Macintosh product ever due to a change in our company’s personal computing model so I’m a total newbie to this OS! It’s a Mac Book Pro 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo running OS 10.5.5 and I also received a pair of Sony DR-BT50 headphones. I was able to pair them fine but when I try to connect to them the indicator in the Bluetooth preferences turns green for a second then red. A message pops up rather quickly that my audio device has failed and gives me the choice to “ignore” or “discontinue using headphones”?? I wonder if this is similar to your situation or if you would have any idea what might be going on?!? I paired them to the Dell laptop I had before I turned it in and with a Mac Book pro running 10.5.4 without problem?? Many thanks for your insight!!

I have the same headphones. Go to the sound preference pane and choose the headphones under the Output tab. However, the problem I have is that they are only using the Bluetooth profile for "Headset" not A2DP for high quality audio. Rumor has it, Leopard is supposed to support A2DP, but the sound quality is AM radio when choosing headset or headphones.

I am also trying to pair them to my Samsung DLP HL-T5689S, but the TV won't see them.

I too am having these problems,
I have an Avantalk AS1 headphone/headset.
It was easy to pair and to get iTunes playing music through them but I was disappointed at the sound quality - and I'm not being a picky audiophile here - alot of the high frequency sound causes a faint crackling in the audio, but I've noticed that there is also a regular occurrence of an interrupting crackle in the sound. (i had no such audio problems watching a movie in VLC using the headphones though)

My problems now also include getting the headset to even work - what is happening now is I turn on the headphones, choose "use headphones" from the bluetooth menu and then when i play a VLC show, the pairing "key" box pops up, even though it's already paired! while this box is up the audio comes through very crackled and then cuts out after I enter the pairing key. I then eventually get the "error in bluetooth audio" notification.

similar sort of problems for the headset function with skype - it didn't work after trying all night, then today it just suddenly worked for no reason.

Hello, my problem is similar but different as well.

I own a pair of Sony DR-BT21G Bluetooth headphones, which up until recently worked just fine. They have always been a little quirky, I.E. will not work as headphones unless there is already sound playing when connecting, and have some crackly interference here and there. These are miniscule problems, though. I really don't mind an occasional crackle or sound cut out, as long as it plays my music/movies most of the time. However, just yesterday they began showing a new problem. When I play music on these headphones, the sound plays normally for about ten seconds, then it cuts out fifteen times, staggering the sound to the point of it not being listenable. Then it's fine for another ten seconds, then staggers again, cutting out over and over and over and over again. It does this until you want to shatter the headphones on the wall and buy some analog piece of crap headphones that at least play the sound without losing connection over and over again. I can't listen to my music at school anymore. More importantly, they cost a pretty penny, and they feel like really expensive earmuffs. Please help.
