iphone 3g and Panasonic car stereo problems

Hi,
I have an iphone 3g and a Panasonic CQ-RX400U car stereo. The stereo has a front-panel USB port. I've been using the cable that came with the phone to connect to the stereo and everything has been working great. All of the stereo's iPod controls handled navigation through the iPhone perfectly, and the unit muted when a call came in, etc...

Just today though, it stopped working. The stereo gets stuck, alternating between "READING" and "PAUSE" with no playback. Nothing I tried has worked. I think this may have been the first time I've tried to connect since I upgraded to 2.1 on the phone.

Any ideas or similar experiences? Thanks for helping!

Hey man
You know what
I just got the same stereo today for my Iphone
But, I got some weird problems and now Im stuck where you are.

I been reading that the Iphone is Compatible with this Deck

Someone stole my actual Iphone Cord, so I been using a buddy's Ipod Cord to charge etc etc
I hooked it up, got the error
This Iphone is not Compatible with this Accessory using a Third Party Cord from Belkin.
I hooked it up with the Ipod Cord, that error quit showing up
And now Im getting the same thing you are.

Its Reads, then pauses. the battery charger on the phone shows for a sec, and then gone again to the screensaver background. Back and FOrth

I tried hooking it up multiple times and its the same deal
I am not sure what the problem is
Im glad to know now that the 3G does work with this deck from what your saying
But, I got the same error you do
SO *** ya know

Anyone shed some help in on this???
Have you contacted Panasonic yet but, see what they say??
I am assuming their closed being a long weekend.

This is Bull$H!T man
I just hooked up a new 2.0.2 Iphone
Worked like nothing on the deck

I tried my 2.1 Iphone OS, Same errors

Think its time a apple tech come in here and help us out
since it was apple that screwed up the accessory in the first place
We would both appreciate getting our phones back working with our decks.

Anyone else have some ideas to get this working??

I've discussed it with Crutchfield, (where I bought the stereo). They are very helpful, but don't know what the issue it. They contacted Panasonic who told them that the front-panel USB was only designed for a mass-storage device. This certainly does not agree with the instruction manual that says you can use a USB-to-iPod cable to connect for using the built-in iPod controls.

It seems clear that 2.1 killed things. Apple - do you have anything to say?

Well
I did some more tests on some of my other buds Iphones

The 2.1 Operating System is definitely the culpret.

Everyone First Gen Iphone and Iphone 3G I tried that had ver 1.xx and 2.xx worked below version 2.1

So, I hope apple fixes this and we get some help bud, cause they screwed something up bigtime when they upgraded the OS.
Hopefully we will have a answer tomorrow when everything opens again. Very disappointed in Apple.

Some of my friends won't even touch the new update since they got their phones because they are afraid the 2.1 will kill their accessories usage in there other brands of USB Decks they just bought for their cars over the past few months.
I strongly agree with them at this time not to Upgrade, whether it fixes stuff or not, would rather sacrifice features and fixes than spent more money on the **** accessories.

Very disappointed that Apple can kill off accessories like this and wonder why people are switching phones due to the cost of accessories that work and die with these new iphones.

We wait here patiently apple for you to reply and see whats causing this stupid error.

THANKS

Same thing for me. Exact same stereo, and everything worked perfectly well (impressively well actually) until the update to 2.1. Now it just reads and pauses, reads and pauses. I somewhat suspect the Genius Playlist changes myself, but of course have no proof.

This is extremely disappointing since it worked perfectly before and the reason for buying the stereo I did was it's integration with the USB port of the deck, not just for playing music, but also for convenient charging in the car.

How this thread hasn't even been addressed or responded to by Apple is beyond me, but is certainly very disappointing and damaging to my opinion on Apple support.

you guys do understand this is a user to user forum right? no apple techs are on these discussions. some apple employees are, but they do so voluntarily. if you want to tell somethign to apple, you need to do it here:
http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

does this stereo carry the "works with iphone (3G) logo"?? if not, then its not made for it, simple as that, even tho it may have worked previously. ipod compatible and iphone compatible are two different things.
