missing graphics in PLugins

missing graphics in PLugins

Hi all,

I just switched from Pro Tools to Logic Pro 8 - so please forgive my ignorance. 🙂

I've installed Logic and everything seems to be working just fine - BUT...when i add an insert on a channel the graphics wont show - I have to press "view" and then "controls" to be able to edit the effect.
Is this normal ?

Even Space Design hasn't got any graphics except from aaaaaall the parameters 🙂

macBook PRO, Mac OS X (10.5.1)

Hi Franne,

No, this is not normal. The solution might well be to upgrade your OS to 10.5.5, the early Leopard versions are known to be buggy with Logic.
Let me know if that improved things.

I recall hearing about this kind of issue before... you're probably missing the "pro application support" part of your OS install. this is needed for apps like logic studio, final cut etc. I'm no expert but I believe it contains all sorts of shared frameworks and whatnot that the pro apps use to draw menu windows and, uh, do other stuff. in any case, you should be able to find it at apple support, download and install and it ought to fix the problem.

Thanx ! Found it and want to install but it tells me that the file can't be installed on my HD (This volume is not eligible for this update.). Is it because the file is not for 10.5.5 ?

um, probably. there must be a pro applications support update that goes with 10.5.5, so I'd look for the right one. also, have you tried just using the software update control panel under the apple menu in the finder? if you run that, it might automatically figure out that you are missing pro app support and will automatically offer to download and install the correct one for you.

Hmmm... I can find the Pro Aplications 2008-3 update on Apples Download-page - But when I enter my serial number it tells me that I have already downloaded this file.
It did update yesterday - automatically.

hmm, dunno what else to suggest. did your machine already come with 10.5.5 or did you upgrade to it? in which case, did you use a combo updater or a delta updater? the accepted wisdom seems to be to always go for the (bigger) combo updater because sometimes things can get missed with the smaller delta updaters, notably pro apps support stuff. you might want to consider reinstalling 10.5.5 using a combo updater. but seeing as I'm no expert, unless someone else chimes in with a definite answer for you, this one might be a case for calling apple support. you might get lucky and find someone that actually has a clue about this issue. also, try scouring the technical support knowledge base files via the logic support page search feature. you might get lucky there too if they've got a document discussing this problem.
