Nano coverings...thoughts?

I just ordered the iPod nano crystal shield and screen armor from decalgirl...i have been planning to use them along with my iPod sock which works great alone so far...i have a few scratches, but nothing that really inhibits the viewing of the player...it's just been loved so far, i just want to make sure it gets the protection it deserves :o)

has anyone else tried something like this yet? i haven't been able to find a straight answer.

Thanks!

Is decalgirl an actual website or someone selling them on ebay? I've heard the name thrown around before but can't figure out where to find them. I want to order the clear vinyl that will cover the body and screen, but have only found ones that cover the body.

Edit:
Hehe, didn't do a decalgirl.com search, nevermind I found the site. I am sure they will make basically unscratchable unless you manage to poke through the decal 🙂

I just received my decals from decal girl. I must be really stupid becuase I really thought it was an actual case for the nano. It ended up being a dumb decal, hence the name of the company. duh! - the decal actually looks nice but this will not protect the sides of your nano which in my opinion are more susceptible to getting scratched. Well, I'll just have to keep looking for an actual case for my Nano.

I actually just stuck it on, but I find it very hard to take off once applied. I think that is because it is such an exact fit. I'll have to wait for the wife to get home to use her long nails to tear it off. I am not impressed with this product. The screen armor is a must and this works well and can come off easily. I'll wait for a Speck I think they are called to release their cases next month. To me applying these skins takes away from the classy look of the Nano, especially the white model. Anyway, this is just my opinion. I think the decal girl skin was a waste of $14+ CAN.

the nano, besides its scratch issue, is awesome. All that is necessary when you get your nano is to have a protective cover. For me, I recently ordered stickIt, a protective film designed for the nano that covers the front, back, and sides. When the speck cases come out, I will be purchasing one of their clear cases as well. Scratching should no longer be an issue once protective measures have been taken.

Nano + Protective film/case = best mp3 player on the market

Do the couches in your homes have that plastic covering on them too? Do you put plastic bags over your new shoes? The Nano looks cool, what is the sense of covering it up with films, socks and whatever else you wrap around it to protect it. Do that, and you will never see it until the day comes when you dump it on eBay to get the next iPod in line. Use it and enjoy it. Anything worth using eventually shows wear.

I really haven't been keeping it covered. I've been keeping it in an iPod sock so my 10lb finance and marketing books don't kill it...i purposely bought a clear cover for it so it doesn't actually cover any of the product design, i like it just the way it is...i'm a professional musician...it's the same way i protect my instruments...tons of coverings and casings and whatnot to prevent it from getting hurt. I see this as more of an investment. I'd never sell it on ebay...if i wanted to buy another, i would...i'd still keep the old one...that's exactly what i did this time.
so far i've been very lucky...i honestly haven't been very careful with it and i really don't have any scratching...but the scratching isn't what i'm worried about...i'm worried about the screen crapping out...
thanks for the apology...i'm sorry i jumped down your throat...too much homework has done me in tonight...

For now I keep mine in a leather business card case for carrying around. I'm looking at the iSkin DUO (dual layer silicone Nano suit) and the Otterbox. The iSkin has a great look but the box if full and water resistant protection for taking on outdoor activities.

Jennifer, you gave me an idea, I'll have to do some research on what's available to wind musicians for polishing their instruments. To date, I've been leary of using either house-hold or automotive grade chrome polishes. If the plastic is any indicator, I imagine the back's layer of chrome might be rather thin.
