Nano coverings...thoughts?

I just ordered the iPod nano crystal shield and screen armor from decalgirl...i have been planning to use them along with my iPod sock which works great alone so far...i have a few scratches, but nothing that really inhibits the viewing of the player...it's just been loved so far, i just want to make sure it gets the protection it deserves :o)

has anyone else tried something like this yet? i haven't been able to find a straight answer.

Thanks!

Wow, the Invisible Shield looks much, much better than my Crystal Shield from decalgirls.com I got both my nano and crystal shield today and frankly the crystal shield looks like garbage. There are tons of air bubbles (blow dried it for a bit then decided not to melt something..) and it look nothing like the Nano without a cover on.

I'd give this a 3 out of 5, the only reason it didn't get a 1 or 2 is because it will atleast protect most of the screen. I say most because the cover isn't big enough to to fit the whole Nano. The skins with pictures on them will look good because they arent see through but definitely stay away from the crystal shield..

Hey yowza,

You know...after about 3 days...the bubbles have decreased a lot...but there's still a substantial amount on the front. Here are some pictures for you to judge for yourself (and for anybody else thinking about buying the StickiT). On the second picture, you can see the seam in the back where the vinyl meets in the middle. And sorry yowza, I didn't put the sticker on the click wheel's center. I just left it exposed. But I hope you can safely remove yours.

DavoMrMac...does your seam look like mine? It still seems a little uneven to me.

And to anybody still thinking about buying the StickiT, I'd say try it out, since it's not been a complete disaster for me, but I'm still only using this temporarily until the nano tubes come out.

The adhesive is a little sticky. The soapy water film lets the skin temporarily "float" on the surface of the iPod so you can slide it precisely in place.

We tried it with very little water on the 1st attempt...it was next to impossible to align it exactly. The die cut is very precise. You will need to slide it to get the film to match perfectly.

If you google images of a disassembled iPod nano, you will see that there is quite a bit of shielding between the clickwheel and the inner electronics. I'm sure water can get in if immersed, but a little on the surface had no ill effect on ours... even after 3 attempts 🙂

We've posted pics after one week...will post new pics after 1 month and 3 months.

As for whether it is permanent...the company says it's not, but we don't know. I would bet there would be no problems pulling it off...will let you know in a couple of year 🙂

I'd have to agree everybody - upon reading RDW's review above, I purchases several InvisibleShields for the three Nano's I purchased for myself and friends. I have had the Nano since the morning it debuted so it is well scratched by now. I used AppleSauce to remove and polish the scathes - which worked very well and than a jewelry polish to polish up the chrome back. (I bought those cheap cotton gloves so as to not leave fingerprints).
It took me two times to apply the InvisibleShield and I made sure to pivot the click wheel around enough the get all the air-bubbles out. I let it dry for three hours and then used it full force as I took it out to DJ a party Saturday night. They should see this a the counters on the Apple Store because it works awesome. I even had some numskull spill a glob of veggie dip on the Nano and it simply wiped off. I think the adjustment here is everyone just getting used to the black color because obviously people don't realize how well the white ipods have kept over time. There is no quality issue with the Nano, it's no different than when I owned a black car versus my current orange one. I can go weeks without washing my current while the black one was an embarrassment after a rain storm. I don't know why people are so quick to call foul play. I think that from what I see around campus these days, people are just generally aggressive with their electronics. To each is own - but don't go and say the Nano is poorly built, just adjust your own use factor and take precautions as I have.

I am yet to buy a Nano, swept up with the rest of the world over the whole scratching issue, but once I've read this forum/messageboard it has changed my mind and so I will purchase one as soon as possible. Like many others I intend to buy a cover to go with it, but Im torn between the Martin Fields and the InvisibleShield, they are the same price bar a pound (maybe less) and shipping is the same and so Im torn between the two, any help anybody?

(P.s I have read/seen the reviews/pictures of the two but I'm still torn!)

Any feedback is much appreciated.
