Slow printing issue - Brother MFC-240c

I have two iMac's (computer A and B) sharing one printer. A Brother MFC-240c printer in connected by USB to computer A. If I print from computer B (to the printer connected to computer A) printing speed is normal. If I print from computer A directly to the printer connected by USB, print speed is slow. The printer pauses a few seconds after every line is printed.

I believe I am using the same printer driver on both computers and both are Leopard 10.5.5.

Any suggestions on what is the reason that printing on computer A is slower than B even though A is connected directly to the printer?

I am not very technical i.e. I don't know terminal level commands and navigation. Troubleshooting ideas etc. would be appreciated. Thanks.
