Trackpad issues

Is anyone else having issues with the new trackpad?

I find my thumb rests near or on the pad, as it has been used to doing for 7 years of using tibooks and later. What happens is:

* Clicks are missed, because two fingers are down
* The cursor stops moving, because the Mac is confused that I might be meaning to do a scroll
* Safari text zooms in and out, as it implements pinch for page zoom, and if the thumb is anywhere near the pad, it registers as a second finger.

I'd like an option to dedicate a certain portion of the bottom of the pad as a button only.

I purchased a new Macbook Pro just after Apple announced the product. I have had nothing but problems with the new "state of the art" glass trackPad. False triggers have been the biggest issue. When the curser is "dormant" over a possible selection for more than a few seconds the selection happens just as if there was a right mouse click.

Any suggestions for a solution?

Hopefully Apple will have a s/w fix for this soon.

*After explaining my problems with the trackpad to a member of AppleCare, the kind lady on the phone _suggested that I send the laptop back to Apple and wait for around 6 months while apple makes 'tweaks' to the computer to hopefully solve/fix the problems_ (as-well as many other problems the MacBook Pro has) before replacing/buying it again.*

*The lady herself even said +"they have a lot of 'kinks' and I myself will not be buying the new MacBook Pro until maybe 6 moths later"+. She then went on to explain that it could possibly be a hardware fault.*

*In this case I would suggest you all do the same. Return it and buy one again in a few months time.*

*GOOD LUCK.*
