New MacBook 2.4 - Erratic Trackpad

The new computer is amazing..... except for the trackpad which is erratic in operation.
Sometimes it registers the clicks, sometimes it doesn't.
Sometimes the cursor moves, some times it doesn't.
Sometimes one puts the cursor over a menu item to select, and when pressing the pad, the cursor jumps off without the item getting selected.
It's erratic about 10 of every 100 click.

Looking online, it seems I am not the only one with this problem.

Does any one know of a software patch to address the problem?

My machine is exhibiting the similar issues. Although the only thing I find odd/disconcerting, is the two finger scroll. Its gone. Three finger gestures and four finger work fine, just not two finger.

I figured repairing permissions and maybe a diskwarrior directory rebuild might help. But the new Macbooks/MBP's can't be booted with 4.1.1 DW. sigh

Love the machine, wish I would have done a little more homework...

Good Afternoon,
I assume Apple will fix this issue at some point soon, as it appears to be pretty widespread.

For now, I'm just glad I waited before buying one of these! Good thing for this forum.

If anyone hears about a fix from Apple, please post about it. At that point, I will definitely buy one of these laptops.

Thanks,
Matt

After some more digging.

I created a new account on my new Macbook, and the new user regains full functionality of the trackpad.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say the trackpad preferences file has gotten corrupt. (At least in my instance.) I only am suffering from lack of a two-finger scroll function. The other two finger actions zoom, and rotate are unaffected. As well as the three and four finger gestures.
Scrolling would be really nice.

What is the preferences file for the trackpad? I want to copy it over from my test user account, to my main user account, log out, log in, and see what happens.

Why doesn't Apple make a more formal announcement of a fix? This is why I am holding back on a purchase. If I knew Apple is really behind a fix, I would buy, but not until then. It's too much of an expenditure for me to not be sure.

I will add to this post as well. The only time I have trackpad issues is when I boot back into osx after using Windows.

If I always use OSX I don't have any trackpad issues at all, but then again I use tap to click. I have posted this in the bootcamp forum but nobody else seems to have the issue.

The trackpad is fine until the date and time updates (afer using Windows), then the tap to click no longer works, and to open anything I need to use 3 finger click. I go into sytsem preferences, all boxes are ticked, so I have to untick then tick the tap to click again. Very strange behaviour so I hope this "update" will fix that issue as well. Does anybody else have this problem?
