cannot open iPhoto

Ever since I downloaded Leopard I cannot open my iPhoto.
I get this message.

You cannot use this version of the application iPhoto with this version of Mac OSX.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have tried everything, I even met with a genus at the apple store. Nothing....

powerbook g4, Mac OS X (10.5)

THat is correct - version 2 is obsolete after 5+ years (and it was free when you got it) and will not work under Leopard - you can either reload your old operating system and use iPhoto 2, not use iPhoto at all or purchase an up to date version - version 4 or newer

there may be copies of version 4, 5 and 6 available on E-bay - purchase at your own risk - and version 7 (iPhoto '08) is available form any apple dealer

PS this is true of other software too - as you upgrade computers and operating systems you must also upgrade software

How do you figure I had a free version?

Because iPhoto 2 was free - you paid nothing for it

Since iPhoto 4 it has been purchased software

That's how it is figured - you got it free - it was free - it now longer is

Your Leopard upgrade ONLY upgrades the operating system and directly associated software as listed on the package - all other software is your responsibility

I'm understanding all of this better. I was not aware my iPhoto 2 was free. My powerbook and everything with it was a gift from my husband.
Now that being all understood. Since downloading Leopard and not using iPhoto I have pictures everywhere.
I am NOT computer smart AT ALL. How do I go about putting all my photos in one file, in one group? Can I even ask this question here or do I need to start another thread elsewhere?
Thank you everyone for all the very helpful information. 🙂
