Shuffle doesn't play all songs

Hi. I just came back from vaction where I took my ipod shuffle with me. But after listening for a while, my ipod started replaying the same songs while it hadn't played others at all. Tried resetting it and various other click and hold options, but I couldn't get it to play all the songs I loaded on. It must have only played about 60 or so songs. How can I get it to play everything?

the shuffle is random - in theory you may never here all the songs you have loaded, so if they all play in sequential mode it is just the luck of the draw if you get them in random mode

again, loads of posts on crashing shuffles, but if you have reloaded the upadater and all is workig fine then you are in good shape

Hi. I have read through that post, but that doesn't seem to be my issue. My problem is that it shuffles through part of the songs that I loaded but not all of them before it goes back to the top and starts again. I've just gone through the entire list of songs. I created a playlist from the shuffle, disconnected it, sat with my headphones and the playlist in front of me and went through them sequentially. All the songs play fine in sequential mode, but there are many songs that never came up when played in shuffle mode. Also, before I had loaded the songs I wanted to take with me, I had reinstalled the updater as the thing had crashed when I tried to remove everything first and turn off disk enable mode. Has anyone else had this kind of problem?

If that were true, then the shuffle will always play randomly, but in actually, what it seems to do is create a random shuffle order and then keep repeating that order. After hearing my songs once, I knew what order they would come up again. I can also track back 10 or 20 songs and those songs will play back in the same order again. On further testing in in sequential mode, I am able to play more songs (maybe all) randomly, but this was not how it was behaving when I was away. Maybe Apple can provide in a future firmware update the ability by pressing the keys in a way to re-shuffle the songs to keep a bunch of favourites coming up in new ways. I had no idea people were having so many problems. I love my ipod shuffle the way I loved my 2G ipod (which still runs quite well on the same battery!).

I'm having the same problem. I'm able to play all my tracks in sequence - but in shuffle mode, the ipod only seems to play a selection of tracks randomly (haven't tested how many). This means that I hear the same songs over and over, while the majority of tracks never play at all. For a while I thought, oh well, it's just choosing songs randomly. But I'm now convinced this isn't the case. Anyone got any ideas??

Have you tried triple-clicking the play button while a song is playing in shuffle mode?

I've been having the exact same problems (see above), but I recently tried this and it seems (cross-fingers) that my tracks have been reshuffled. At any rate, one or two tracks have played that never used to. It seems that triple-clicking the play button resets the tracks into a new order. If you never triple-click in shuffle mode, then this order (or perhaps the track selection?) will remain the same. I'll keep testing...
