iPod Touch green screen problem

Dear Apple,

I'm a fanatic Apple user, and I'm still very much in love with my ipod touch. However, recently after the battery dropped to zero, my ipod touch has been sporting a green screen ever since. This means, it works and I can still see the icons / menu etc but all the black on the screen has been replaced by green, and colors have been replaced by purple.
How can I fix this? Does this have to do with battery? I tried reset and everything, to no avail. Please assist.

btw the purple is only a bit, but the green is very bright and replaces all the black. Still no result after few days. Respond please..

I can't offer advice on how to fix it, but...do you have a local Apple store? if so I'd suggest taking it there for them to look at, or if not then call the phone support to see about a possible replacement if it is hardware related. Good luck!

I'd rather not lose my iPod (which I also use as worktool) for over 1+ month. Especially considering I'm going on holiday in 2 months so the risk of losing it for more than that is worrisome.

Any other ideas ? Any other cases like this ?

But, do you have a local Apple Store? Why would you lose it for over a month? I had a head crash on my PowerBook G4. They could not repair at the store. They sent it in to have the HD replaced. I got it back in less than a week.

This is a 2g Touch? If so, and it is defective, theres a very good chance if you took it to an apple store, they would replace it with one while you wait. (this is also the case for a 1g if you've had it less than 1 yr)

iPod Touch 16gb
It's one of the first versions of the ipod touch, ordered it through the apple online store. It's almost 1 year old now, I guess I have to hurry then..
