No HDMI output from Aja IoHD

I have Final Cut Studio 6.0.4, Aja Io HD driver 6.0.1 on a Mac Pro with 10.5.5 and QT 7.5

Using ProRes as default, capturing component SD (625i) works just fine. I can see my footage on my preview monitor over CVBS.

But I can't get any output on HDMI to feed my plasma display?

No matter if I have FCS started or not, fiddling with the HDMI section in Aja Control Panel shows nothing (tried RGB, Component, primary, secondary, 2 audio channels, 8 audio channels... nothing).

I connected the HDMI cable to a stand-alone DVD player. The picture shows up just fine. So I figure there's nothing wrong with the cable or the plasma. The plasma says something like "unavaiable signal mode" or something like that. Looks like it does not understand the HDMI being fed from the IoHD. The cable is HDMI 1.3 - but sure those cables are backward compatible, right?

Any ideas?

(Hi Shane, so you're hanging about here, too? :-))

Beats me. Even if it does carry only HD, the plasma really should be able to handle it, if the HD is PAL (everything on the IoHD is set for 625i, both primary and secondary).

Otherwise, I really like the IoHD. It's plug-and-play and even if the native format is ProRes422 (some say it's a great codec, other that it is not at all that great) it's far better than capturing analogue Betacam SP to DV25... (which we have done up until last Friday). And really, you can't tell a difference. At lest not in SD on a standard CRT monitor. 🙂
