Stylus RMX/ Multi-channels

For some reason I've forgotten how to do this: How can I get Stylus tracks in the Arrange page to have consecutive channels. I've tried to set it up in the Environment where I have a multi-channel instrument wired to the stylus channel strip, but when I change one channel in the arrange page, they all change to the same channel. Is there a trick to wiring or something I'm missing?

There is also a method which uses "clones" that is extremely useful for automation of Stylus RMX.

The CLONE method:
1. Select your Audio Instrument in the Environment Window - (the channel strip with RMX loaded)
2. Name the strip RMX Ch1
3. Set its MIDI Channel to Ch1
4. Option-drag the strip to make a copy (you may need to clear some space for this) - place it next to the original.
5. You have just made a CLONE of the first strip. You have not loaded a separate instance of RMX.
6. Set its MIDI Channel to Ch2 - name the strip RMX Ch2
7. Keep making clones until you have 8 MIDI channels.
8. Remember to set each new clone to the next MIDI channel and rename each strip.
9. You now have 8 clones of one RMX instance.

Now, instead of your old method of using channels of the Multi to control your score in the arrange window, use these clones. You can record separate tracks for each part within RMX.

Same as using the multi? - not quite......
Each clone will control a separate MIDI channel in RMX, but you'll find you can send all controller data that you need, specific to each MIDI channel. You can use Logic's Automation and separately automate each arrange track where a clone is loaded - ie, you can automate parameters for each part within RMX. Going even further, you should find that when you enable Automation, that a unique menu for automating many RMX parameters will pop up.

The one apparent drawback is that if you move the volume or pan controls of one strip, all clones are affected. The way past this is to use the volume and pan controls inside RMX, which you can automate as explained above. eg Volume or Pan of Part 1,2, 3 or whatever.

Hope this makes sense.....

Hi,
this is a know issue with AU version of RMX...

useing more instances on diferent ins.tracks should be a good idea... RMX also add instabilty on Logic.. usually i prefer to export RMX regions as Aidio file... the reulting files will be same as Apple Loops and you will be able to change tempo and transpose the resulting RMX Audio files
