How do you put a "spacer" track into a playlist?

I'm creating a playlist, but for now I need a blank track to go in between two other tracks so I can insert the real track later.. Is there a way to use iTunes to create a "blank track"?

mac pro, Mac OS X (10.4.10), using iTunes version 7.4.2

Not really, unless you use the method mentioned above ^.

However, as long as you are able to make a mental or written note, you can put songs in a playlist in any order you like. So if you add a song 2 months from now to a playlist, you can put it anywhere you like in the playlist, youd just need to remember yourself where you want to put it.

Maybe, in the song before the space you want to save, put a comment in the comment field of the song, and then display comments on that playlist to remind you.

Find the song in the iTunes Store. (If the Store doesn't have the exact song you are thinking of, find one similar enough that will remind you.) Drag it into the playlist. That creates a placeholder.

If you later buy the song from the Store it will automatically replace the placeholder; if you get the song somewhere else, you can replace it manually.

interesting from advice ed at the end there...

And I especially like the idea of recording a 5 second clip and then inserting it... i actually came up with the idea before I checked back for that same answer here in the forum..

goes to show we all think alike!!

inserting your own recorded clip allows the most options, depending on how you want to use it! ...so it's unanimous in my opinion.
