ipod and Alpine

Good evening,
Was wondering if anyone else is using their ipods with the alpine car decks and their adapter? I have been using mine for about a week and, after getting used to all of the button combinations I have been pretty happy with it. Today, though, there was some hiccup in the system and the ipod froze up with the alpine logo; couldn't reset it, couldn't plug it in to a recharging dock, and couldn't attach to my mac..it wouldn't see it. Went to the apple store and they tried everything and they finally said they have had some similar problems with alpine users. They ordered me a new one and will get it when it comes in. When I brought it back home the battery finally died out and was able to restore it. My question is does alpine put some sort of funky software (which they said at the apple store)when I attach it to the head unit and will this keep happening? or was this dumb luck? Should I bring back my ipod for the new one when it comes in or just call and cancel it?

Thanks

Tom

I went to the store today and they hooked up an iPod mini and it worked fine but my 60GB iPod Video this cannot connect with the head unit. Thinking back I believe my problems started when I updated the firmware on my iPod to the one that came out on 6/28/06. I am now going to try to restore my iPod to the original factory settings and reload on my music (it is going to take for ever) and will give an update afterwards.

I'm still having problems with my iPod syncing with the CDA-9856. I have tried everything: resetting my iPod, restoring it, updating and rolling back the firmware, resetting the Alpine deck, and I still only get a non-stop "searching" message. I called Alpine and they said that they have no reported no compatibility problems with the 5G 60GB iPod and I called Apple and they were completely clueless on the matter as well. If any of you get any news they please let me know.

Well I finally got my iPod video to work with my Alpine CDA-9856 HU but now I will get an Error-01 message on a frequent basis. I know the manual says this error message means that there is a communication problem between the HU and the iPod and that turning off the ignition and reconnecting the iPod should fix the problem. Well this fix is only temporary for me and it resurfaces after several minutes of use. I am thinking that I either have a bad HU or cord. I will be going to back to the store to have it switced out and let you guys know how it works.
