Hi guys, I bought a MacBook Pro 15" three days after they were released.. everything was going just fine until yesterday, when I was playing Call Of Duty 4, and suddenly my screen went black. I closed/opened the lid and still it was black, everything else was running just fine cause I could hear the game running through my speakers.. but the screen wouldnt turn back on no matter what. I had to use the power button to shut it down and get the screen back.
this happened like 4 times yesterday (all of them while gaming)
should I take it back to the store?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks.
MacBook Pro 15",
Mac OS X (10.5.5),
2.53GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB 1067 MHz DDR3, Nvidia GeForce 9600GT 512MB
I wouldn't advice using smc fan control "cranked to max", I've readen a guy on another forum who burned out his MBP fans by putting minimum speed above 5000… so I put at min 4000…
Well I've had my laptop back for 24 hours now and apart from the keyboard backlight not working (they forgot to re-attach a molex connector) it seems to be running perfectly now when gaming.
ahhh, ok clhf, thanks for the clarification. agreed that isn't the best solution... at least it seems like it will work as a partial fix in the meantime...
Update: First time BlSOD. This is the first crash I got. Happened while running a 3dMark 06 on the windows side. Looks like even the newest shipped Pros are still having the problem.
it's turning into a nightmare…
so even if you send it back to change the logic board, they replace crap with more crap?
what the **** is happening to apple…
Well, I'm determined not to go back to Windows, so I guess I'll just keep getting laptops and keep replacing faulty logic boards. Eventually I should be able to go through all the bad ones, right?
Still inconclusive on mine: serial "W8848xxxxxx", where "W8xxxxxxxxx"=Shanghai factory; "xx8xxxxxxxx"=2008; and, "xxx48xxxxxx"=between Nov. 23 and Nov. 29.
