Who LOVES their MBP ..

Thought I'd start this thread as I cannot believe some of the things that people complain about. I understand faults from the factory and general bad workmanship, but some of the things are truly amazing.

Anyway, I love my new MBP including the glossy screen.

Anyone else out there with me. Chime in and lets start a positive thread about an awesome computer ..

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.5)

Yup, I love mine. I was building a data DVD for work today, and was able to build it with the command-line tools I like to use (mkisofs, hdiutil), and then test it on three platforms on the same machine (Mac, Windows and Linux), using Parallels. This replaces not only my old PB, but the windows laptop that work issues to me, and the linux box in my office. Everything I need to do, I can do on this one machine. I've never been in that situation before. It's fabulous.

I love my new MBP. I was one of those people that was upset that they didn't offer the matte screen. But once I got it, it had me at Willkommen. Seriously, when that animation started, my jaw dropped. The screen was that amazing to me.
I couldn't tell in the store. It has too many bright lights.
But when I got it home, it was an entirely different story.
I LOVE the glossy screen now. I actually think it makes the computer. I know, I know, this is sacrilege to a lot of people. But, I really think that once you start working with this screen, you will see how amazing it is. I am coming from a black MacBook, which also had a glossy screen. But I didn't like that screen at all.
This glossy screen is totally new to me. I see absolutely no glare at all. The screen just has an "it" factor. The thought of a matte screen now, is a real downer to me.

I love everything about this computer. I guess I should put one thing in here I don't like so that I will have more credibility. I just can't think of anything that bothers me.
To me, this is one of those wonder Macs that comes along every once in awhile.

Funny you should say that about the screen. I used to have a black MacBook but got rid of it a couple of months ago when I heard that the new MBP was in the offing. A friend of mine came over a couple of days ago who also has a black Macbook and I put it side by side with my new MBP. Have to say, the screen clarity and brightness is considerably better. I mean 50-75% better.

So for all the debate about glossy vs matt, lets not forget in all of this that Apple have introduced what is, in my humble opinion, the best screen I've ever seen on a notebook.

Otherwise, the new MBP is nothing short of awesome. Absolutely stunning.

if you've just upgraded from a 4/5yr old PB to the new generation Macbook pro ofcourse you'll notice a huge difference but the upgrade features such as the brighter screen have been introduced gradually over the last few generations , not just added in this late 2008 model.

i have the early 2008 mb pro and after trying the new machine in the apple shop i cant feel enough difference to make the upgrade just yet and sadly i wont unless i can get a matte option screen as a graphics professional the glossy screen is unworkable in my line of work.

Another "love mine" post. Not much to say when you have a perfect machine. Out of the box perfect.

Not a single software or hardware glitch. I hook up to a 20" ACD with the Mini Display Port, and it is so much easier to hook up without the big plug with screws.

I didn't think I would like the new keyboard, but I type much better, than on my previous MBP. I keep on High Performance while on adapter, and Better Performance while on battery.

As far as the casing, it is strong, solid, and the look now has grown on me to make my old MBP look dated (even though it is perfect and I will sell it!).

I do have trackpad learning curve issues. I need to get used to tapping, etc. better.

Judging from how little action these forums are experiencing compared to previous. I think these machines are being built much better. Of course I don't discount the people who got defective ones. I have been there in the past, and its not fun. I hope Apple rectifies all those situations quickly.

If all the horror stories here were, indeed, true - then I own the ONLY 17" MBP 1.83GHz in the universe that operates without problems...(grin)

I own three MagSafe adapters (home office, front room, and one for presentations) - and not one has blown up nor frayed.

I own two battery packs - and neither has exploded nor warped.

My 17" matte screen is flawless.

All updates via Software Update have installed with NO problems whatsoever.

I am sure that the reported problems are genuine. I just cannot get mine to fail like that.

Excellent points. You can't blame some people for being concerned when they see glare or reflections in a glossy screen on a display model in a store, but with rows of industrial lighting overhead and viewing angles that are not the same as for normal use, it's a distorted perception.

Like you, I have no problems with the glossy screen either at home or in my office. It's unfortunate that some of the detractors who don't own them get a bit hostile when arguing with people who do.

Nothing beats the experience of ownership and daily use when it comes to evaluating the new MBPs. They're quite impressive.
