Final Cut Express 4 HD Log And Transfer Error

Hay

i have this error when trying to import video from my Sony HDR-SR7 in final cut express. In log and transfer i select a clip to import and for a while it looks as if it is in the status bar but then it stops and turns to a red exclamation bar and when hovered upon it says error: no data.

Ive tried searching this but i cant find anyone with this problem, could some one shed some light.

The videos is AVCHD And is using apples HDV- Intermediate Codec 1080i50 as i am in the pal region and the camera is set to pal i think.

There is a program called I-Partition from Coriolis. It allows re-formatting - to a degree - w/o losing data. I am not certain if it will do so in such a drastic reformat as you need. When you do re-format to Mac Extended do not turn on journaling. What about moving (copying) your media files to folder on the Mac HD b4 formatting your Lacie?
Good Luck - Have Fun.

Hi - I'm new to FCE4. I just purchase it as imovie 09 was not working well with my Sony HD-SR12. I kept getting error messages when trying to export. Anyway, I've got my Easy Settings set to Format = HD; Use = HDV-Apple Intermediate Codec 1080i60; Rate = (all rates). Under log and transer Video is checked off and so is Audio (Audio is mixed to down to stereo). Apply to Selection is grayed out even if I uncheck Audio. So then I add the selection, which is about 30 seconds (I do have more clips to add, but I want to see how it works) I get the exclamation point after it idles during transfer. The error says no data. It looks so simple in the tutorial that apple offers, but it's not. I'm not a techie, but I pick things up pretty well. Is there a really good book that I can pick up to learn this program? My husband is getting antsy to download the videos. Thanks.

I'm sorry I don't know what you mean by the specific preset. I have the camcorder on and ready before I open up FCE. I have an iMac. Not sure what you mean by drives - Hard drive? Connected with usb. The boxes have check marks in them. Sorry for being so ignorant. What's a good book to walk me through the process. The on-line guidebook is not very clear either to me.

Hello, I am new to the forums but after reviewing the suggested actions here I was able to fix this little error (exclamation point on a red stop sign) on my system. I was trying to import AVCHD video from a Sony HDR-SR11 without having luck. After finding the gear icon (at the top of the log and transfer screen above the clip list) and clicking on it, I selected preferences, clicked on AVCHD under AVCHD Plugin. I selected "Apple Intermediate Codec" and left the audio at matrix stereo. By default FCE4 installed with Apple ProRes 422 already selected which seemed to be the problem for me. Hope this helps.

I am using the Log and Transfer function with my Canon Vixia HF11 transferring to an external terabit drive. I've had no problem in the past transferring many other files but am now encountering this problem. The file I am encountering this problem with is bigger than the others at 2.1 GB. It plays fine in the Log and Transfer clip viewer so does not appear to be corrupted. I've tried changing the audio from "matrix" to "plain". I've ensured that it is transcoding to Apple ProRes 422. Mousing over the red stop sign error icon indicates "error: no data" I tried importing just selected segments of the clip instead of all at once as suggested earlier and still got the error. There is enough room on the drive for this file so its not that. I am now trying the method of copying the entire AVCHD file onto the computer and redirecting Log and Transfer to that. Don't have high hopes though.

I was experiencing the same red exclamation point with the "Error: No Data" explanation and I had "Apple Intermediate Codec" selected for AVCHD and "Matrix Stereo" selected for the audio. These settings changed after running update for FCE 4.0 to FCE 4.0.1 via Software Update. I changed the "Reel Name" from "Untitled" to "Cr" (the abbreviation for the project I was working on) and the clips imported just fine from the Log and Transfer menu. I would suggest attempting to change the reel name and use the settings I have listed above, of course after upgrading to FCE 4.0.1. No problems now, even importing a 12 minute clip recorded on Sony HDR-UX20 at HD HQ setting.

Well, I'm having the same problem, but mine may just be new computer-related? I shoot on a Canon HF10 and have never had problems transferring to FCE on my macbook, but just got a brand new iMac desktop and the first thing I did was install FCE and try to log/transfer video from my camera. I went through and set everything up and am getting the same "no data" error that so many others are getting. I played around with the settings in log/transfer (video/audio) and nothing changed. I can't transfer anything. Please help! I'm moderately versed in FCE and have never been so stuck. Here are some specifics:

Video was shot in 30i (AVCHD), 1920x1080
Running on OS X 10.6.2
I'm set on Apple Codec 1080i60
My scratch disks are all set
