Final Cut Express 4 HD Log And Transfer Error

Hay

i have this error when trying to import video from my Sony HDR-SR7 in final cut express. In log and transfer i select a clip to import and for a while it looks as if it is in the status bar but then it stops and turns to a red exclamation bar and when hovered upon it says error: no data.

Ive tried searching this but i cant find anyone with this problem, could some one shed some light.

The videos is AVCHD And is using apples HDV- Intermediate Codec 1080i50 as i am in the pal region and the camera is set to pal i think.

Trash your preferences. Repair permissions. Reboot.

Is this FCE 4.0.1?

Are any other devices connected to the computer? Hard drives? How are they formatted and connected?

In the log and transfer preferences popup make sure audio is set to plain stereo and clear the cache?

This is FCE 4.0
There are no other devices connected yet.
I will try setting the audio to plain stereo again after trashing my preferences, repair and reboot.

Still nothing. I had to run out the door so I didn't have time to try anything else. I'm mobile right now with the macbook so won't be able to get back to problem solving this until I get home. Is there anything else I should try? I did everything you suggested and still am getting nowhere...

FCE4 does not support 1920x1080. Update the software. Start again with the correct settings and new preferences.

Tom, I tried log/transfer the video on to my macbook FCE and had absolutely no problem doing so. I have since uninstalled FCE from the iMac and am re-installing it and re-setting my preferences. I'll give an update if and when I get this solved.

Thanks! I changed both the audio and AIC settings as described in this forum in the Log and Transfer window and it works now!

Just to add my little bit, I'm using a Sony HDR-CX106 (UK, PAL using Intermediate Codec 1080i50, stereo sound) and I've just got the upgrade software for FCE4 from version 3.5.1 and installed it. Tried all the suggestions on this thread to solve the red exclamation and nothing worked. In desperation I looked around and found that even now, in 2010, Apple had sent me FCE4.0 and not FCE4.0.1 which has fixes for AVCHD capture. Did the upgrade it all it worked fine - hope this helps somebody

I had the exact same problem and solved it by doing the Software Update.
