greylisted address

I am trying to send mail from my .mac address using Mail (os x 10.4.11) and get the follwoing message from the postmaster@mac.com :

Sun, 26 Oct 2008 16:43:31 -0700 (PDT)
XXXXX@mic.gov.mz: smtp;450 <XXXXX@mic.gov.mz>: Recipient address rejected: Greylisted, see http://isg.ee.ethz.ch/tools/postgrey/help/mic.gov.mz.html

This seems to imply that either Apple or I is using a grey listing tool that won't permit sending to the intended address.

Is there any way I can get the intended recipient off the grey list? The link indicted in the message does not tell me anything I can understand....

Yes. I live in Maputo and often work for governemt agencies (incl the ministry of industry & commerce mic.gov.mz).

Any idea how I them off the grey list - this makes doing business from a .mac address almost impossible for me.

Ask the adminstrator of the Mozambique e-mail server blocking you to unblock you.

Make sure that:

1. Your e-mail address is only known to people in the government agencies.
2. You never use it for eCommerce external to the government.
3. The people you communicate with are protecting their machines against spammer viruses.
4. Your e-mail address is never used for sending or receiving chain letters.
5. If you have to use eCommerce for the government, make sure that the website sneding you information regarding your purchases has your "notify me of further offers" and similar options unchecked.

Thanks. Will try to get the server manager to unblock me. I do not use the address for e commerce, in or outside Gov, but there is a high risk that machines in gov are not adequately protected against spammer viruses. The syntax of the rejection reply almost implies that it is something that was on my side (which it certainly isnt , unless the .mac system is doing this sort of junk mail managment).

Once your e-mail address gets in a spammer virus's mailing list, your address may be spoofed to be like spam, and result in getting blockaded by anti-spam software. It is a lousy endless loop that can happen with very little control by you. The best thing to do is make sure those you contact are as well protected as you are.
