Scroll bars in phpBB forum posts

I just posted a complaint on a phpBB forum about most posts being framed with scroll bars making it necessary to scroll down and across to read each post.

After a bit of a debate it turns out that being the only Mac user and the only Safari user I am the only one experiencing this problem. It doesn't happen with Firefox.

Is there any way of tweaking Safari to stop this happening.

In a manner of speaking. They must have programmed their page with very small fonts. Try reducing the font size on Safari using the aA button on your toolbar.

And as soon as I reduced the font size, i.e. zoom out, using the mentioned button, all the scroll bars disappear.

Well, as you can see from this screen grab, I have 'zoomed' the text to smallest size (see the greyed out small 'A') and the scroll bars are still there.

It would help if you would kindly complete your details by showing what OS you are using and what version of safari.

OS X 10.5.5
Safari 3.1.2 (5525.20.1)

But as it happens with other versions of OS X and Safari (according to other users) this information may not be as helpful as you suggest.

I have never seen this before or seen it mentioned, but perhaps you should contact the forum and ask why their web pages are not compliant with the latest version of Safari and/or OS X.

It's phpBB, probably the most popular forum software on the planet.

It works fine on Firefox.

No non-Mac forum user experiences this problem.

I think the problem is Safari.
