CR2 as "Unsupported Image Format" on Aperture 2.1.2?

I just installed aperture on OS 10.5.5 and immediately installed the available update via Software Update. Then, I imported a day's worth of shooting from my EOS 1D Mark iii (one of the models listed on Aperture's Supported Raw Formats webpage - http://www.apple.com/aperture/specs/raw.html). The .jpegs display fine but my CR2 images only appear as preview thumbnails - when I click on the preview a red box appears with the text: "Unsupported Image Format." I'm a bit incredulous that Apple would fail to support this enormously popular image format - say it ain't so.

Same experience as Steve.

The issue arises every now and then, and relaunching Aperture always fixes it.

After moving all my images and library to a set of RAID 1 drives I started having this issue. After much scratching my head I realized that I was importing my image to "Pictures" on my main drive which was a sym link to the new "Pictures" on the RAID array. After adjusting the import to the new drives it works...phew.

Same problem exactly - RAW images from Nikon captured while tethered now described as unsupported. I edited one before this happened. Any solution?

i dont know if this helps but every now and then after i edit an image in Photoshop and bring it back into aperture it gives me the red unsupported image format screen. I figured out that if you just select that image and click images>generate thumbnails that it will "re-render" the image and the red screen will go away.

Precisely the same experience to the letter. Also using a Canon 1D, Mark III and it occurs during the edit. Gets your attention the first time. Thus, I OFTEN rebuild the library by depressing Option and Command while activating the application. Seems to help. Again, the issues is so precisely identical, I would have worded it identically. Therefore, this is not unique.

I've been having precisely the same problem when editing images in photoshop. I edit as 16-bit tiffs and when I save them and aperture refreshes I often get the red unsupported format. As with all the others the problem seems to go away for those particular images when I restart Aperture.
